Toronto 2015: Day five as it happened

The fifth day of action saw medals awarded in four sports and some huge fixtures in team sports.
Medal events

Brazil's Michele Ferreira was crowned Parapan American champion in the women's -52kg class, whilst Venezuela's Marcos Falcon won the men's -66kg category and Henry Borges took Uruguay's first Parapan American gold medal, in the men's -60kg class.

Brazil claimed the gold in the men's team class 1-2 and in the men's team class 5, whilst Argentina took the silver medals. Mexico sealed gold, ahead of Brazil and the USA, in the women's team class 1-3. Brazil and Canada to face off for Parapan Am title in the men's team class 6-8, Brazil and Mexico in the women's team class 4-5, and Brazil and the USA in the men's team class 9-10.

Paralympic champions Brazil secured their place in the final with a 0-0 draw with world silver medallists Argentina. Mexico beat Uruguay 1-0 and Colombia defeated Chile 2-0.
Football 7
Argentina beat the USA 1-0 and Brazil hammered hosts Canada 8-0. South American rivals will go head-to-head in Saturday's final.
Argentina beat Venezuela 16-6, the USA defeated Puerto Rico 10-0 and Brazil recorded a comfortable 12-2 victory over Canada in the men's competition. Brazil secured their fifth win of the women's competition with a 10-0 win over Guatemala, Nicaragua thumped El Salvador 11-4 and the United States beat Canada 5-2.
Canada won its game in straight sets 3-0 against Colombia in the men's competition, whilst Costa Rica triumphed over Mexico 3-2 and Brazil beat United States 3-1.
Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the United States booked their place in the men's competition semi-finals after their triumphed over Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, respectively. In the women's competition, Peru opened the day with a 42-30 win over Guatemala and will next face Mexico, who defeated El Salvador 86-22, for positions 5-6.
The USA defeat Canada 60-59 in a thrilling match, Brazil beat Chile 45-6 and Colombia triumphed over Argentina 51-36.
The USA's Kaitlyn Verfuerth defeated Chile's Francisca Mardones 2-0 and will meet Natalia Mayara, who beat Verfuerth teammate Emmy Kaiser 2-1, in the women's singles final. In the men's singles semi-finals, the USA's Jon Rydberg defeated Brazil's Daniel Rodrigues 2-0 and top seed Argentina's Gustavo Fernandez powered Colombia's Eliecer Oquendo 2-0.
