    Vote now for the Allianz Athlete of the Month – November 2016

    The public has until 13 December to vote for their favourite among the five candidates.

    The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has revealed the shortlist for the Allianz Athlete of the Month for November, and the public can now vote for the winner on www.paralympic.org.

    The nominations are:

    Matti Suur-Hamari, FIN, snowboard

    Suur-Hamari beat strong competition in US snowboarders Evan Strong and Mike Shea in the banked slalom SB-LL2 at the Europa Cup, and topped that later with another win at the opening World Cup in Landgraaf, the Netherlands.

    Youngho Lee and Youngseon Park, KOR, Para dance sport

    The couple were part of a strong South Korean showing at the first-ever Asian Championships, winning the combi Latin class 2 and taking silver in an all-South Korean dance-off.

    Matias Nicolas Pino Lorca, CHI, table tennis

    The 19-year-old won the gold medal at the Para Table Tennis (PTT) Chile Open and PTT Copa Tango Argentina in the men’s singles class 6; he was the only male competitor at the Chile Open with Rio 2016 experience.

    Beatrice Vio, ITA, wheelchair fencing

    The Italian teenager won the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) World Cup in Pisa, Italy, to close out 2016 strong; the event was the last IWAS competition of the year.

    Chris Vos, NED, snowboard

    The 18-year-old won both his races in banked slalom SB-LL1 at the Europa Cup and followed up with another victory at the opening World Cup in Landgraaf, the Netherlands.

    The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on Tuesday (13 December) to vote for the athlete they want to be the Allianz Team of the Month for November 2016 via the www.paralympic.org homepage.

    The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).

    The 2016 Allianz Athlete of the Month winners so far are:

    • January – Abdullah Sultan Alaryani, United Arab Emirates, shooting

    • February – Andrey Smirnov, Russia, wheelchair curling

    • March – Stephen McGuire, Great Britain, boccia

    • April – Carlos Serrano, Colombia, swimming

    • May – Shelby Watson, Great Britain, athletics

    • June – Elena Krawzow, Germany, swimming

    • July – Richard Whitehead, Great Britain, athletics

    • August – Ekrem Gundogdu, Turkey, goalball

    • September (Best Male) – Siamand Rahman, Iran, powerlifting

    • September (Best Female) – Sareh Javanmardidomani, Iran, shooting

    • September (Best Team) – Brazil, BC3 boccia team

    • October – Emanuele Lambertini, Italy, wheelchair fencing
