President of NPC France receives legion d’honneur
27.04.2015Emmanuelle Assmann, a former wheelchair fencer, received the award in Paris, France.
On Friday (24 April) in Paris, France, Emmanuelle Assmann the President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of France and Secretary General of the French Federation of Disabled Sports received the prestigious legion d’honneur.
The award is the highest decoration in France and was presented to Assmann by Tony Estanguet, the triple Olympic canoe champion and IOC member.
In addition to being President of the NPC, Assmann is a bronze medal winner in wheelchair fencing from the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. She was elected President of the NPC in May 2013
Also in attendance to see her collect the award was International Paralympic Committee President Sir Philip Craven; Thierry Braillard, Secretary of State for Sports; Valérie Fourneyron and Jean-François Lamour, former sports ministers; Denis Masseglia, President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee; and Gérard Masson the President of the French Federation of Disabled Sports.
