A full report was also given to the Board about the success of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games ahead of next month’s debrief in PyeongChang, South Korea

The first two days were dedicated to developing the IPC Strategic Plan 2015-2018 which will be published next year and initiating key themes that the IPC membership will discuss at October’s gathering in Berlin, Germany.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Board received an update on preparations for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games from the President of the Organising Committee Carlos Nuzman and Executive Director of Sport and Paralympic Integration Agberto Guimaraes. A full report was also given to the Board about the success of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games ahead of next month’s debrief in PyeongChang, South Korea.

The Board also approved the membership of the following IPC Standing Committees which will be announced shortly:

    • Anti-Doping Committee

    • Audit and Finance Committee

    • Classification Committee

    • Legal and Ethics Committee

    • Medical Committee

    • Sports Science

Also approved by the Governing Board were the IPC Audited accounts for 2013 which will be published next month in the IPC Annual Report, the IPC Anti-Doping Code, and amended rules for four IPC sports – ice sledge hockey, powerlifting, swimming and wheelchair dance sport.

Following a presentation from Anne Hart, Chairperson of the IPC Classification Committee, the Governing Board approved the release of a revised draft of the IPC Classification Code to the IPC Membership for another round of consultation.

The Board also received updates on the IPC’s broadcasting strategy and the progress of each department at the IPC.

The next IPC Governing Board meeting will be held 6-7 October 2014 following the IPC Membership Gathering event in Berlin, Germany.
