Andrea Eskau will be one of Germany´s main medal hopes at her home World Para Nordic Skiing Championships in Finsterau, where she seeks to defend her three women´s cross-country sitting titles from 2015 and hopefully add more golds to her haul in biathlon.

The 45-year-old, who claimed two Paralympic titles at Sochi 2014, launched her season in spectacular way as she sealed five wins at a World Cup in Western Center, Ukraine.

As she enters the final preparations for Finsterau 2017, she explained which the three reasons she loves skiing are.

    Nature

“In cross-country skiing, I especially love the contact with nature.”

    Independence

“It is also possible to enjoy the winter landscape even as a wheelchair user.”

    Challenge

“Nordic skiing is a challenging sport that requires a lot of work.”
