    Princess Margriet to attend Sochi 2014 Paralympics

    The IPC Honorary Board will attend the Opening Ceremony and competitions, and will take part in medal ceremonies.

    Princess Margriet, a member of the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) Honorary Board, attend the Opening Ceremony on 7 March and will be involved in multiple medal presentations at various competitions.

    Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and her husband, Pieter van Vollenhoven, will be present in Sochi, Russia, from 7-11 March for the Paralympic Winter Games.

    Princess Margriet, a member of the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) Honorary Board, will attend the Opening Ceremony on 7 March and will be involved in multiple medal presentations at various competitions. She will also visit the Paralympic Villages to meet the Dutch athletes and is planning to watch alpine skiing and ice sledge hockey.

    Princess Margriet and the other IPC Honorary Board members bring together leaders of society who support the Paralympic Movement's vision and strive to maintain the issue of sport for persons with an impairment high on the agenda of the global community. Honorary Board Members assist the IPC in creating opportunities for raising awareness and funding, through the Member’s network of contacts and sphere of influence.
