Chokhlaev continues dominance over Polukhin

Russian teammates Stanislav Chokhlaev and Nikolay Polukhin continued their head-to-head at the IPC Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing World Cup on Tuesday (8 December), with Chokhlaev claiming his latest victory in Tyumen, Russia.
Chokhlaev, with guide Oleg Kolodiichuk, opened his season in style with three cross-country wins over Polukhin last week (2-5 December).
When the biathlon portion of the World Cup got underway on Sunday (6 December) with the individual long-distance Chokhlaev (18:27.2) also claimed first place, continuing his winning streak in the men’s biathlon sprint visually impaired on Tuesday.
Reigining world champion and 2014-15 overall World Cup winner Polukhin and guide Andrew Tokarev (19:22.3) were second ahead of France’s Thomas Clarion (19:29.1), guided by Antoine Bollet.
Russia once again took the top spot on all the remaining sprint podiums.
Despite dropping a shot, World and Paralympic champion Vladislav Lekomtsev (18:19.7) led the men’s standing field after missing out on the podium on Sunday.
Norway’s Nils-Erik Ulset (18:21.4) shot clean alongside France’s Benjamin Daviet (18:27.4) for second and third respectively.
Grigory Murygin (22:04.4) had the edge on Germany’s Martin Fleig (22:43.5) in the men’s sitting despite neither one missing a shot. Russia’s Ivan Golubkov (22:47.2) completed the podium.
Paralympic champion Mikhalina Lysova (18:15.8), guided by Alexey Ivanov, was in great shape once again in the women’s visually impaired.
Lysova secured her second consecutive biathlon victory ahead of teammate Elena Remizova (20:22.1) and guide Maksim Pirogov. German Clara Klug (20:29.8) and Martin Hartl made it into the top three once again in third.
Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games silver medallist Anna Milenina (18:14.5) led Russian compatriots Ekaterina Rumyantseva (19:57.9) and Natalia Bartiuk (21:04.6) onto the women’s standing podium.
A clean shooting Svetlana Konovalova (19:35.6), also a Sochi 2014 silver medallist in this event, emerged on top of an all-Russian women’s sitting leaderboard. Irina Guliaeva (19:46.7) and Maria Iovleva (20:08.8) were second and third respectively.
Competition concludes in Tyumen on Wednesday (9 December) with the biathlon pursuit.
