“It was good meeting in a fine spirit. All members contributed and we had good discussions about the different items.”

With five regional Championships plus the World Team Championships, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) held a productive meeting with their Para table tennis division from 11-12 February in Brondby, Denmark.

Chaired by Dorte Darfelt, the meeting looked ahead to a busy year and continued progress was very much the theme. Belgium’s Nico Verspeelt, the deputy chair, and Sweden’s Petra Sorling, ITTF Executive Vice President, led the discussions.

“It was good meeting in a fine spirit. All members contributed and we had good discussions about the different items,” Darfelt said.

A busy year ahead for begins with the first West Asian Para Games in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday (18 February). The well-established Lignano Masters in Italy later in this month will for the first time see most of the top Para table tennis players from around the world officially kick off their seasons.

The Lignano Masters includes junior events, including players under 23 years of age, an idea introduced last year.

“I’m very proud to follow the work in our Para division. Focus is on the future and how we can work more closely together in the ITTF,” Sorling said.

More on the ITTF’s Para table tennis meeting can be found on the ITTF’s website.
