Perez elected President of Puerto Rico NPC
18.12.2016The newly appointed President succeeds James Torres and will lead the organisation in the lead-up to the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Following elections held on 2 November, German Perez Rodriguez is the new President of the Paralympic Committee of Puerto Rico (PCPR), succeeding James Torres.
Perez Rodriguez will serve a four-year term, leading the organisation in the run up to the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Luis Vigo Garcia will serve as Vice-president and Angel Torres as Treasurer, whilst Dialma Ortiz will continue as Secretary General.
“I will work hard to send Puerto Rico´s biggest delegation ever to a Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, in 2020,” said Perez Rodriguez.
“The athletes are priority number one. I hope we can further build momentum following the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. I know we will face big challenges, but I have a big commitment and we will work tirelessly.”
With 13 athletes as part of the delegation, Puerto Rico made its Paralympic debut at Seoul 1988, winning one gold and two silvers through track and field athlete Isabel Bustamante.
The Latin American country has competed at every Paralympic Games since.
