    Ukraine aim to reclaim football 7 Paralympic title

    After winning silver at London 2012, world No.1 Ukraine will be the strong favourite to reclaim in Rio the Paralympic title they won at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

    2014 World Championships runners-up Ukraine, led by Kostyantyn Symashko, are hoping to reclaim the Paralympic title they won at both Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, in Rio this September.

    Ukraine was drawn alongside Great Britain, Ireland and host nation Brazil in Group A, whilst the Netherlands were pitted against Argentina, Iran and the USA in Group B.

    World No.3 Brazil, who won bronze at Sydney 2000 and silver at Athens 2004, seek to top the Paralympic podium for the first time on home soil.

    The preliminary games will be contested between 8 and 12 September. The two best from each group will advance into the semi-finals, which will be played on 14 September. The final will take place on 16 September.

    Football 7-a-side will be contested at the Deodoro Stadium.

    • Jan Francisco Da Costa (BRA): He is arguably the world’s best player and is hoping to cause a major impact on home soil, this September.

    • Kostyantyn Symashko (UKR): The goalkeeper feels ready to lead his team in Rio and reclaim the Paralympic gold they won in Beijing eight years ago.

    Sport fans from around the world can now buy their Paralympic tickets for Rio 2016 from authorised ticket resellers (ATRs)

    The IPC’s Global ATR is Jet Set Sports, and Rio 2016 tickets and packages can be purchased on the CoSport website.

    Residents of Brazil can buy 2016 Paralympics tickets directly from the Rio 2016 website.

    Visa International is the exclusive payment card and the official payment system for the Paralympic Games.
