Four men’s teams progress to quarter-finals undefeated
20.06.2014Paralympic champions Bosnia & Herzegovina, China, Iran and Russia remain unbeaten in the men's Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Poland.
The pool phase of the men’s competition at the 2014 Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Elblag, Poland concluded on Wednesday (18 June) with four teams – all the pool winners - still boasting 100 per cent records.
London 2012 champions Bosnia and Herzegovina, have yet to drop a set in Elblag, and easily progressed from pool C alongside Brazil. The Balkan country will now meet pool D runners-up and London 2012 bronze medallists Germany in the quarter finals, whilst Brazil will face pool D winners Russia.
Having topped Pool B, Iran, the five-time Paralympic champions and London 2012 silver medallists, will now face pool A runners-up Ukraine.
China, who topped Pool A, face a tricky task against pool B runners-up Eygpt.
The women’s pool phase will come to an end on Thursday (19 June) following the final round of matches and the game of the day is likely to be between London 2012 silver medallists USA and Russia, the only two undefeated teams in pool A.
Paralympic champions China are still unbeaten and look to have pool B sown up after four games. They will be joined in the semi-finals by either London 2012 bronze medallists Ukraine or the Netherlands who will face each other in the final pool match on Thursday.
