With just two months left until the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Great Britain, athletes are in the final spell of training before one of the most anticipated events on the calendar.
With that in mind, we take a look at some of the greatest multiple world record holders in the world expected to compete at Glasgow 2015 from 13-19 July.
Ihar Boki, Belarus
Still just 20 years of age, Ihar Boki quickly transitioned from promising youngster into the best S13 swimmer in the world.
With six world records to his name already, Boki will go out this summer in excellent shape to defend, and maybe even better those.
Boki proudly boasts records in the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle, in addition to further world beating results in the 50m and 100m backstroke. To top all those off, he has also claimed the record as the men’s S13’s fastest ever 200m individual medley athlete.
Daniel Dias, Brazil
Brazilian athlete Dias is set for what could be the greatest 18 months of his career, as he gets set for the World Championship and then his home Paralympics at Rio 2016.
The list of records set by the S5 athletes is incredible, setting records in almost every one of his events. What’s left for Dias in the next two years is to further that domination, as he hopes to add to his tally of 10 Paralympic gold medals in Brazil.
Jacqueline Freney, Australia
The most decorated athlete from London 2012, Jacqueline Freney has returned to the pool with a bang after a break in 2014.
Freney, 22, is the current women’s 100m and 400m freestyle S7 world record holder, marks that have both stood since 2012. The Australian is also the current world No.1 in the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle having set hot times at the national team selection event in April.
Glasgow 2015 is expected to attract around 550 swimmers from over 60 countries in the biggest international competitions before Rio 2016.
