The USA’s double world silver medallist David Brown provides today’s #Superhero Sunday as he gears up for this week’s Parapan American Games in Toronto, Canada.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a successful 2015 season so far that has included victory at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Arizona, USA, and a hat trick of wins at the US Paralympics Track and Field National Championships.
The visually impaired sprinter, who holds the world records in the 100m and 200m T11, will be hoping to maintain his winning ways when he pulls on his national vest once more.
Here are his heroes:
Coach Cruz (Brazilian Joaquim Cruz – former Olympic 800m champion and now a coach)
He always encourages me to be larger than life, encourages me to go past my barriers. And he’s always there to help. And he’s a great coach!
My grandpa
He has always stood by me throughout the years, and always encourages me even to this day. He is one of the strongest guys that I know and I’ve looked up to him growing up. He’s one of my heroes.
My mom
Through the thick and the thin, it doesn’t matter what happens in life, she always seems to find a way to make it through. Come what may she always pushes through, she’s a really strong individual.
The track and field competition at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games will feature 377 athletes competing in 145 medal events between 10-14 August.
