The Slovakian Paralympic Committee has held the first of its annual sports camps for young people with physical impairments.

The 2015 edition of ‘We are Looking for Talent’ kicked off in Remata from 5-11 July, with para-cyclist Vladimir Janovjak attending to speak to the participants, and Paralympic champion alpine skier Jakub Krako regularly visiting the sessions.

Krako himself owes a special debt to We are Looking for Talent, having taken part a decade ago in the search for a sport that suited him.

During the first camp, participants had the chance to try handcycling, swimming, archery, athletics, shooting and table tennis. They also tried floorball, horse riding and fishing.

All participants received various awards and prizes, such as medals and certificates and were also given photos and stories of Slovakia’s most successful Paralympians.

Paulinka Ciganikova, 10, was named the Absolute Talent among the girls, and Pavol Kocarik, 14, was recognised as the Absolute Talent for the boys.

The camp in the past has also welcomed participants from outside Slovakia, including Ukraine and the Czech Republic.

The next two editions of We are Looking for Talent, which is supported by the Markiza Foundation and Allianz, will take place in Remata on 5-11 and 15-22 August.
