    Sochi 2014 Paralympics scheduled released

    There will be 72 sets of medals contested across five sports at next year’s Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

    The Paralympic competition program has been approved by International Federations, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS), but may still undergo minor alterations.

    The Sochi 2014 Organising Committee has now published the competition schedule for the next Paralympic Winter Games, which will be held from the 7-16 March 2014.

    The sport programme includes competitions in ice sledge hockey, wheelchair curling, biathlon and cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and snowboarding. A total of 1,650 athletes and staff members, from more than 45 countries will attend the Paralympic Games.

    During the Games, 72 sets of medals will be contested in five sports, with snowboard making its Paralympic Winter Games debut as a discipline under IPC Alpine Skiing.

    Ticket sales for the first Russian Paralympic Winter Games went on sale on 27 September. Russian citizens and formally resident foreign nationals can purchase tickets the official website. Tickets are also available via authorised ticket resellers.
