The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Serbia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and the City Assembly organised a reception for their Paralympians who brought home nine medals from the Rio 2016 Games.

In front of the City Assembly in Belgrade, citizens gathered and greeted their Paralympians with music and thunderous applause.

"Thanks Serbia, thanks to the people of the City Assembly for making it possible to realise a dream that Paralympic athletes have been dreaming of for years, and that is what brings us in front of the Assembly. It has now become a reality,” said Zeljko Dimitrijevic, who won back-to-back Paralympic titles in the men’s club throw F51.

After taking silver in London 2012, table tennis player Borislav Peric-Rankovic found gold in Rio in the women’s singles class 4.

"Thank you for coming to magnify our success from Rio,” she said. “All this would not have been possible without you, or without our coaches and selectors. Thank you on behalf of the Paralympic athletes. We are glad for you and hope we met your expectations.”

After the Paralympians’ speeches, popular Belgrade rap group THC performed the national anthem for the Paralympic team "Champions every day," heating up the festive atmosphere.

Dejan Petrovic’s orchestra "Big Band" also raised the atmosphere and mood of everyone present.
