Athletes will look to fine tune their form ahead of this month’s World Para Alpine Skiing Championships when they line-up at the IPC Alpine Skiing Europa Cup in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, between 7-9 January.

Skiers will compete in super-G, giant slalom and slalom events. The Netherlands’ two-time wheelchair basketball Paralympic bronze medallist Barbara van Bergen will make an appearance in the women’s sitting.

In the women’s visually impaired, Croatia’s Eva Goluza and Germany’s Noemi Ewa Ristau are hoping to achieve their first wins of the season.

Finland’s Santeri Kiiveri, who is currently third in the Europa Cup overall rankings, headlines the men's standing.

France’s Frederic Francois will start as favourite in the men’s sitting, whilst Australia’s Shaun Pianta will attempt to add wins to his haul in the men’s visually impaired.

The Europa Cup season will continue in February with three stops in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, Sljeme, Croatia, and Stara Planina, Serbia.

The series kicked off in Landgraaf, the Netherlands, and then moved to Pitzal, Austria, before landing on Swiss slopes for the first of two Europa Cups in Veysonnaz, with the second set to take place from 29-31 March.

The World Para Alpine Skiing Championships will take place in Tarvisio, Italy, between 22-31 January.
