Three members of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) are heading to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this weekend to attend an update meeting on Monday and Tuesday (22-23 November) on the progress made by the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Organizing Committee.
This will be the first Executive Project Review into the Rio Games and led by its Chief Executive Officer Xavier Gonzalez, the IPC will be informed of the organizational structure of the Organizing Committee, Rio’s vision for Paralympic Games integration and how it plans to market the Games.
In addition the group will also be updated on venues, transport and accessibility – not only in the venues but city wide covering hotels, airports, tourist attractions and transport.
They will also receive a presentation on how three levels of Governance will be involved in the Games in Brazil.
Xavier Gonzalez, the IPC’s CEO said: “This is the first official Executive Project Review with Rio 2016 since they won the Games so it will be interesting to see how they have managed the transition from winning the Games to putting their bid document into practice.
“Although still in its infancy almost six years out, I am looking forward to receiving updates on a whole host of projects.”
The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games will take place from 7-18 September 2016.
