“The eyes of the world will be focused on the Paralympic Games in London next year and we are delighted to announce CCTV as our broadcast partner in China."

The London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has announced that China Central Television (CCTV), the national TV station of the People´s Republic of China, will be the Chinese Rights Holding Broadcaster for the Paralympic Games next summer.

CCTV is China’s largest national broadcasting network, with 21 public channels and 19 Pay TV channels in operation. Accessible to more than one billion viewers and with programs reaching 140 countries and regions, CCTV will broadcast a minimum of 5 hours per day during the Paralympic Games. The broadcaster will also provide news coverage of the Games and additional broadcast hours through the national web-based TV broadcaster CNTV (China Network Television).

In 2008 CCTV was the host broadcaster for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Seb Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee said: “The eyes of the world will be focused on the Paralympic Games in London next year and we are delighted to announce CCTV as our broadcast partner in China. We will be working with CCTV to deliver a spectacular sporting showcase for the world’s greatest Paralympic athletes, and the power of the Games will help to challenge stereotypes and raise awareness of Paralympic sport. Following on from CCTV’s fantastic coverage of the Beijing Paralympic Games, this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Paralympic sport to the largest nation in the world.”

Xavier Gonzalez, CEO of the International Paralympic Committee, said: "After the superb success of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, it is excellent news that CCTV will be continuing its coverage of the Games next year in London. The reach of CCTV in China is phenomenal and their coverage of London 2012 will ensure that millions of people get to watch the Games."
