All physical education undergraduate and graduate students are invited by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) to apply for the Sao Paulo 2017 Youth Parapan American Games volunteer programme.

To participate in the selection process, the interested person must be enrolled in a recognised educational institution and send their application via email voluntario.brasil.sp@gmail.com by 31 October, stating personal data –full name, address, contact number and email- and if they have good English and/or Spanish language command.

There are a total of 120 positions for volunteers, 50 of whom will have the responsibility for helping the delegations directly. In this case, they need to be fluent in either English or Spanish and will stay at the Holiday Inn hotel together with the delegations.

The other 70 volunteers will stay at the Paralympic Training Centre’s hotel, which will stage the competitions.

All of those who participate in Sao Paulo 2017 will receive a certificate attesting the hours worked and the activities undertaken at the event.

The Youth Parapan American Games will take place from 20-25 March, with 1,000 athletes from 20 countries expected to compete in 12 sports, an increased on the 631 youngsters and the 10 sports from the last edition in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2013.

The first Youth Parapan Ams was held in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, in 2005, with athletes from 10 countries competing, whilst 14 nations attended the second edition in Bogota, Colombia, in 2009.

More information is available on the CPB’s website (in Portuguese).
