With three years to go until the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games, the Organising Committee’s newly elected President Carlos Neuhaus is hopeful they will be a success and help to develop the national economy.

“I will manage Lima 2019’s two fronts: operations and infrastructure,” he said.

“Peru’s image is at stake and with the legislative decisions to speed up bureaucratic steps approved. With hard work and everyone’s support, we will achieve a successful Pan American and Parapan American Games. With hard work, everyone’s support and unfettered.”

Neuhaus has also been liaising with Julio Maglione, President of the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO), who expressed his support for Lima as the organising city.

“I talked to Julio Maglione, who gave me his support and was satisfied for having received a call from the Peruvian President Pedro Kuczynski, who expressed his commitment to organise Lima 2019,” he said.

Neuhaus stated that the construction period ill last 18 months, but there are some assessments to complete before it can begin.

“Most of the studies have concluded and by the end of next year’s first trimester, the constructions will begin,” he said.

The full interview can be found on Lima 2019’s website (in Spanish).
