Learn a little more about the Brazilian T45 sprinter ahead of October’s IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

    1. The 27-year-old is the current world record holder in the 100m, 200m and 400m T45.

    2. Nascimento proposed to his girlfriend live on television at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, pulling out a piece of paper from behind his bib number and holding it up to the television cameras directly after winning the 200m T46.

    3. Jubilation turned to despair in the 100m as Nascimento suffered a hamstring injury midway through the race. He limped to the line as the 80,000-strong crowd rose to their feet and cheered him on.

    4. The Brazilian won 200m T46 gold at the 2013 World Championships in world record time, clocking 21.91 – the first sub-22 seconds in his class (T45).

    5. Nascimento won bronze in the 100m T47 and silver over 200m at August’s Parapan Am Games.

The IPC Athletics World Championships will take place in Doha, Qatar, between 21-31 October, attracting 1,400 athletes from 100 countries.
