The Nottwil Grand Prix record breakers
01.06.2015Nine world and six regional records broken at a sensational IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Switzerland.
The IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland, (29-31 May) was a sensational event with nine world and six regional records smashed as athletes showed their form ahead of October’s World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Although widely regarded as the world’s best meeting for wheelchair athletes, this year racers had to share the headlines with amputee sprinters who took full advantage of the supremely fast track and excellent weather conditions.
In the case of Becky Richter’s world record in the 100m T51, she beat a record that was over a quarter of a century old!

World records
100m
• Martina Caironi (ITA) – women’s T42 – 15.15 seconds beat her own previous world record of 15.18 set on 6 June2013
• Marlou van Rhijn (NED) – women’s T43 – 12.82 seconds beat her own previous world record of 12.85 set on 23 February 2015.
• Becky Richter (CAN) – women’s T51 - 31.66 seconds beat the USA’s V. Hill previous world record of 32.08 set on 27 August 1989.
• Toni Piispanen (FIN) – men’s T51 – 20.97 seconds beat his own previous world record of 21.11 set on 17 May 2012.
200m
• Martina Caironi (ITA) – women’s T42 – 32.32 seconds beat her own previous world record of 32.64 set
• Marlou van Rhijn (NED) – women’s T43 – 25.66 seconds beat her own previous record of 25.99 set on 17 May 2015.
• Ahmad Almutairi (KUW) – men’s T33 – 30.06 seconds beat his own previous record of 30.34 set on 23 February 2014.

• Angela Ballard (AUS) – women’s T53 - 54.73 seconds to beat Jessica Galli of the USA’s time of 54.88 from 10 September 2008.

• Rachael Morrison (USA) – women’s F51 – threw 8.71m to add 11cm to her own F51 world record set on 4 July 2014.
European records

• Bojan Mitic (SUI) – men’s T34 - 15.68 seconds beat his own previous European record of 15.85 set on 31 May 2014.

• Toby Gold (GBR) – men’s T33 – 32.66 seconds beat his own previous European record of 32.77 set on 16 May 2015.
• Henry Manni (FIN) – men’s T34 – 27.80 seconds beat his own previous European record of 27.98 set on 12 August 2013.
400m
• Henry Manni (FIN) – men’s T34 - 52.60 seconds beat his own previous European record of 53.29 set on 18 May 2014.
800m
• Henry Manni (FIN) – men’s T34 - 1:45.62 beat his own previous European record of 1:47.37 set on 11 August 2013.
5,000m
• Henry Manni (FIN) – men’s T34 – 12:58.49 beat the Netherlands’ Henk Schuiling’s previous record of 14:35.01 set on 29 May 2010.
