Ten multi-medallists hoping to impress at Glasgow 2015

“I think the home crowd at Glasgow is going to be immense and it’s really going to push us."

The medals design for the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships were revealed on Sunday (24 May), with just 50 days to go until Glasgow, Great Britain, hosts what will be the biggest gathering of international swimmers ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Tickets for Glasgow 2015 are still available at www.ticketmaster.co.uk/Glasgow2015 where over 550 of the world’s best athletes from more than 60 countries will compete for the distinctive medals, and qualification for the next Paralympic Games, between 13-19 July.

The hosts are sending a talent-laden team of 18 Paralympic, world and European champions including 20-year-old double world champion Ollie Hynd.

Hynd is hoping that the home crowds will be out in force to recreate some of the magic of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and spur him on his way to winning gold once again.

“The atmosphere last year at the Commonwealth Games was amazing,” the double European champion said. “It was so reminiscent of London, just the way that the crowd were behind us and we really felt like we were fully supported similar to how we were in London.

“I think the home crowd at Glasgow is going to be immense and it’s really going to push us, it is a smaller team so we need to feed off that excitement from the crowd.”

Glasgow 2015, which will be held at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre – the same venue as the Commonwealth Games, is the biggest qualification opportunity ahead of Rio 2016.

The medals feature the logo of the World Championships embossed into a rounded square, with a wave design at the top. The back features the logo of IPC Swimming, the International Federation of para-swimming, and the wording printed in braille as is customary.

Media accreditation for Glasgow 2015 is also still available at Glasgow2015.com.
