Rio 2016 publishes Paralympic Games ticket prices
15.05.2015The Organising Committee looks to set record, surpass ticket sales of previous Paralympic Games.
The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games are aiming to sell more tickets than any other edition, as 3.3 million tickets will go on sale from 7 September, which is Brazilian Independence Day.
The Organising Committee for the Rio 2016 Games hope to build off of marks set at London 2012, which sold about 2.7 million tickets and garnered a cumulative TV audience of 3.8 billion.
The journey toward that public record began on Thursday (14 May), when Rio 2016 published the ticket prices for the Games. With around 300 sessions, ticket costs range between BRL 10 and BRL 130. Prices for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies vary from BRL 100 to BRL 1,200.
Ticket requests for Brazilians begin on 7 September, with the launch of the draws in October and online sales in December. Tickets will be delivered in May 2016, and ticket office sales will begin the following month.
The sales to fans from abroad will go through the official National Paralympic Committees (NPC) and Authorised Ticket Resellers (ATR). Each ATR can choose the date to begin sales as long as it is after 7 September.
The Paralympic Games are the third biggest ticketed event in the world. They will gather 4,350 athletes from 178 countries to contest 23 sports.
