“People should keep a close eye on the website for the latest updates and I would encourage media to register quickly for the opportunity to cover world-class athletes at their very best.”

A brand new website and a media accreditation process have been launched for the 2014 IPC Swimming European Championships, which take place from 4-10 August in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

The new website is available at www.Eindhoven2014.org and is the place to find out information about tickets, volunteering opportunities and latest news about the competition.

Craig Spence, IPC Director of Media and Communications, said: “We expect around 500 athletes from nearly 40 countries to gather in Eindhoven for the 2014 European championships to put on their best show ahead of the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Great Britain, and of course Rio 2016.

“Some big names will be competing at the same venue as the 2010 World Championships so we expect the competition at the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium to be high quality.

“People should keep a close eye on the website for the latest updates and I would encourage media to register quickly for the opportunity to cover world-class athletes at their very best.”

Tickets for Eindhoven 2014 are expected to go on sale in March in addition to the launch of the volunteer recruitment drive. People with an initial interest in volunteering can already register via an online form at: http://www.paralympic.org/eindhoven-2014/volunteer-information.

At Eindhoven 2014 Dutchman Marc Evers is expected to star for the host nation having picked up three world titles at the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal, Canada, and a gold and bronze medal at the London 2012 Aquatics Centre. Holder of two European titles, he will be aiming to impress at the stadium named after his swimming idol and the pool where he claimed his first international podium back in 2010.

The Championships are expected to draw some of the most high-profile swimmers in the world including Great Britain’s triple-world champion Ellie Simmonds, Russian world and Paralympic champion Oleysa Vladykina and her teammate, five-time world champion Oxana Savchenko.

Following an incredible performance at Montreal 2013 topping the medals table with 33 golds, including seven each for Olga Sviderska and Dmytro Vynohradets, Ukraine are also sure to send another strong team to Eindhoven.

Media can register for accreditation through the website.
