The Swiss Paralympic Ski Team is setting its sight on medal success at the upcoming Tarvisio 2017 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships.
The team consists of five skiers – four male, one female – including Paralympic champion Christoph Kunz and Paralympic medallist Thomas Pfyl. Youngsters Robin Cuche, Bigna Schmidt and Theo Gmür complete the team.
Kunz, Pfyl and Cuche are the Swiss medal hopes.
Sit-skier and speed specialist Kunz won the downhill one week ago in Innerkrems, Austria, his first World Cup win in three years. Teammate Pfyl took gold in the super-combined at the same World Cup and left a strong impression.
After missing the last World Cup season due to a torn ACL, Cuche also put on strong performances lately taking two second places in the downhill races on 12 January.
Schmidt and Gmür are the newcomers in the team.
The Tarvisio 2017 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships, taking place between 22-31 January, will feature 130 of the world’s best skiers from 25 countries.
