South Korea's Kim sets finals world record

South Korean athletea have dominated the shooting competitions on day 3 of the Incheon 2014 Asian Para Games.

South Korea’s Geun-Soo Kim smashed the R4 (mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2) finals world record on Wednesday (22 October), beating world champion and record holder teammate Young-Jun Yeong into fourth place.
Kim put on a dominant display at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range, leading all seven elimination rounds to take gold with 211.6 points. It is his second medal in Incheon after collecting a rifle bronze on Tuesday (21 October).
Iranian shooter Masoumeh Khodabakhshi (210.5) took silver to follow on from Sareh Javanmardidodmani’s sensational double pistol finals world record from earlier on in the week.
Kim’s teammate Ju-Young Kang (188.9) completed the podium.
The remaining events saw three more heavyweights lose out.
South Korean Ju-Hee Lee (7) beat China’s 2014 World Championships bronze medallist Hedong Ni (5) to the P3 (mixed 25m pistol SH1) gold. His compatriot Sea-Kyun Park (8) doubled the score of Chinese Paralympic champion Jianfei Lee (4) in the bronze medal match to claim third.
Rounding off a clean sweep for the South Koreans, Jin-Ho Park (204.5) sealed a narrow victory in R6 (mixed 50m rifle prone SH1).
United Arab Emirates’ Paralympic champion Abdulla Sultan Alayrani (204.2) fought to take the win but Park proved to be too strong, only dropping two rounds during elimination.
The UAE achieved a double podium with Abdulla Saif Alaryani (183.6) taking bronze. That performance also secured the team gold with a score of 1819.3.
South Korea (1816.5) won silver and Thailand (1806.0) bronze.
With just one day of shooting competition remaining at the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games, hosts South Korea are at the top of the medals table with six golds, three silver and six bronze.
Two events will take place on Thursday (23 October), with China in second place (three gold, four silver and two bronze) ahead of Iran (two gold, two silver and one bronze).
Incheon 2014 features around 80 shooters from 18 countries, with 41 countries competing across 23 sports overall until 24 October.
