New Zealand swimmers set world records

Pascoe, named to the IPC’s Ones to Watch list for swimming just last week, clocked a time of 29.21 in the 50m butterfly S10.
Paralympians Sophie Pascoe and Mary Fisher set world records – pending IPC Swimming ratification – on the third morning of the New Zealand Swimming Championships in Auckland on Tuesday (19 March).
Pascoe, named to the IPC’s Ones to Watch list for swimming just last week, clocked a time of 29.21 in the 50m butterfly S10, bettering her previous world-best time of 29.57 she recorded at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
The 20-year-old won three golds and three silvers at London 2012 in front of a 17,000-strong crowd and is determined to add to her gold medal collection at the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal, Canada, this August.
Fisher, also a Paralympic champion, set a new world-best time of 34.35 in the 50m butterfly S11 classification, breaking her own world record of 35.12, which was also set in London.
