Around 4,350 athletes from more than 170 countries are set to compete in Latin America’s first Paralympic Games between 7-18 September 2016 with 528 set of medals up for grabs in 22 sports.
In addition to live broadcasts and flashes of the competitions during programming, SporTV will prepare the most complete experience for subscribers, reinforcing the values of Paralympic sport: determination, courage, equality and inspiration.
"All the editorial content of the channel will be oriented to create and increase the interest of Brazilians in the Paralympics. We also have a special project, the “I move myself”, with the production of a 13 chapter series and two documentaries about the Paralympic universe," said Raul Costa Junior, content director of SporTV channels.
Best team, innovation and expertise in covering large events are attributes conquered and enhanced over the years by SporTV. To reinforce the line with its consumers, SporTV will bring a new brand concept for its campaigns, the "We are all champions."
With inspirational focus, the new subscription is an allusion to many obstacles and victories that athletes and ordinary people face on a daily basis. Only here the subscriber accompanies these stories, the preparation for Games with live stream of the main qualifying events and a special programming throughout the year, fully dedicated to Rio 2016.
Globo
On network TV, Globo will dedicate more coverage to the Paralympic Games than ever before. Some of the station's main reporters will be out, searching for great inspirational stories brought by the Paralympics. In the fields, courts, tracks, and pools they will follow Brazilian athletes who have the challenge of leading Brazil to a top five finish in the medals table for the first time.
During the Paralympic Games, important events of the most traditional sports, such as swimming and athletics, will be displayed in live flashes, during programming. All the TV news will bring special reports and “Esporte Espetacular” will display the series "Eficientes" in four chapters, with a peculiar view on the universe of Paralympic athletes. At the end of each day, the Paralympic Bulletin programme will summarise events of the day, with the most striking and exciting moments of the competition.
The theme will not be restricted to the areas of sport and journalism. Globo will support the Paralympic Movement in entertainment as well, with features involving athletes and plots, showing the resilience, through sport, of people with a disability.
