Glasgow 2015 to break broadcast records

Fifteen broadcasters from eight countries will show highlights and live coverage on television and online, whilst 122 journalists, non-rights holders and photographers will also attend the Championships.

A record number of broadcasters and coverage has been confirmed for the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships, which get underway on Monday (13 July).

New Zealand’s Attitude Pictures, Spain’s Grada1, Japan’s SkyPerfect TV, Germany’s SportDeutschland.TV and Great Britain’s Channel 4, BBC Radio 5 Live and US Paralympics have all confirmed live coverage direct from the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

American TV network NBC, Italy’s Rai Sport, Spain’s RTVE, Germany’s ARD and ZDF, Brazilian broadcaster Empresa Brasileira de Comunicacao, Japan's NHK and Scottish STV Greater Glasgow will feature news.

Footage will be distributed through German news network SID, Eurovision’s News Exchange Programme, e-player, Omnisport and the European Broadcast Union’s Worldlink, whilst clips will be available on request through IPC Swimming.

A number of National Paralympic Committees will also distribute footage depending on race results, as the national rights holders.

IPC Swimming will show live coverage of the whole of competition from 13-19 July at www.Glasgow2015.com, which will not be available in Great Britain and Germany because of rights agreements.

Great Britain

Channel 4 will show two highlights shows as well as live coverage online at Channel4.com. BBC Radio 5 Live will report live from the poolside whilst STV Greater Glasgow will feature various interviews and features throughout the week.

USA

NBC will broadcast a 60 minute highlights show at the end of the Championships. Live coverage will also be available at uspara.us/swimstream.

Spain

Grada1.TV will show live coverage of the heats and finals online with Spanish commentary, and RTVE will produce a daily highlights show.

Japan

Full live coverage will be broadcast on SkyPerfect TV, whilst NHK will produce a highlights programme and delayed online coverage and news coverage online and on TV. WOWOW are also on site filming for their recently announced documentary series.

Germany

Highlights shows on ARD and ZDF and live coverage online via SportDeutschland.TV. News clips in German will be available from SID.

Italy

Rai Sport will show daily highlights.

New Zealand

Live coverage will be shown online on Attitudelive.com, as well as news clips.

Brazil

Daily highlights on the Empresa Brasileira de Comunicacao network.

The commentary team at Glasgow2015.com features Paralympic swimmers Paul Noble and Giles Long, who is also voicing for Channel 4, and various colour commentators.

Race footage will also be available directly from IPC Swimming, as well as daily newsfeeds x 2 (following News Access Rules) for non-rights holders.

The 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships will feature around 580 athletes from nearly 70 countries and will be one of the biggest qualification opportunities for Rio 2016.
