Five facts about…..Great Britain’s David Weir

The British wheelchair racer won three world titles at his last World Championships in 2011 and will be looking for more at Doha 2015.
1. Weir loves house music and DJs in and around south London – when his schedule allows!
2. In 2009 Weir was awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Sutton – the area in south London where he grew up.
3. The Briton won his sixth London marathon title in 2012 – and won the Mini London marathon wheelchair race seven times too. He is the only male athlete to win both mini and senior events.
4. Lucky number six? In September Weir won a record-equalling sixth Great North Run title – to add to the six world golds, six Paralympic golds and six marathon wins already under his belt.
5. The David Weir Leisure Centre in Surrey, England, was named after the 36-year-old.
The IPC Athletics World Championships will take place in Doha, Qatar, between 21-31 October, attracting 1,400 athletes from 100 countries.
