“Coming off a bronze medal at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge, Norway will definitely be looking for a better result, which will make for a very competitive series.”

Canada’s ice sledge hockey team, bronze medallists at last year’s A Pool World Championships, will host Norway starting on Thursday (17 January) for a three-game series at the Centre des Sports Jean-Claude Tremblay in La Baie, Quebec.

The competition will take place at a newly sledge-accessible venue and will be the first major event for both teams since December’s World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Calgary. Canada took silver in Calgary and Norway won bronze. The Canadians defeated the Norwegians during the round-robin stage of the competition, 4-1, behind two goals by Kevin Rempel and eight saves by Corbin Watson.

“This is a great opportunity for our team to build on what we learned in December,” Canadian head coach Mike Mondin said.

“Coming off a bronze medal at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge, Norway will definitely be looking for a better result, which will make for a very competitive series.”

The first game of the series will start at 19:00 (EST) on Thursday. That will be followed by a 19:00 (EST) start on Friday and a 12:00 (EST) start on Saturday.
