• Mexico's strongest Paralympic winter sport is alpine skiing.
• The Central American country made its Winter Games debut in 2006 with Armando Ruiz competing in the men’s giant slalom and slalom sitting events.
• Arly Velasquez Penaloza is one of Mexico's top Paralympic winter athletes. In sitting alpine skiing at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, he finished 26th in giant slalom and 33rd in slalom. At the 2013 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships, he was 12th in downhill and 15th in super-G.
• At age 46, Juan Ruiz Hernandez finished 27th and 35th respectively in the giant slalom and slalom sitting events at Vancouver 2010.
• Mexico has never won a medal at either the Paralympic Winter Games or the Olympic Winter Games.
• At the Paralympic Summer Games, Mexico has won 93 gold medals and 273 total medals, including a haul of six gold medals and 21 total medals at London 2012.
