Stoke Mandeville Stadium hosts International Tournament

Stoke Mandeville Stadium is pleased to be holding an International Sitting Volleyball tournament; a triangular international series between Great Britain, Canada and the Netherlands from 23 to 25 March.

Supported by Harpers Fitness at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, it will see some of the best sportsmen in the field battle it out to win the tournament.

Richard Callicott, President of the British Volleyball Federation said: “We are delighted to be back at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and, after the success of our recent domestic competition - the Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix Series - we are ready for the first International Sitting Volleyball tournament we have run since the 1990’s. We are really grateful for the continued support of WheelPower, Bucks2012 and obviously Leisure Connection.”

Charlie Walker, a member of the British team commented said: “It’s fantastic to be at Stoke Mandeville Stadium for the week following an excellent final round of the Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix on Sunday, also at the stadium. It’s exciting to be able to play international matches against The Netherlands and Canada in a great setting.”

The tournament is open to all members of the public to come down and watch, with children from Mandeville School, Oakgreen and Bearbrook and Edlesborough School also being given the chance to try out sitting volleyball and speak to the British players about the sport.
