Pistorius Records Podium Finish at Diamond League in Brussels

South African double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius recorded his first-ever podium finish at a Diamond League competition on Friday (16 September), capturing bronze in the 400m in Brussels in a time of 45.46.

Pistorius, competing against able-bodied athletes, finished behind Belgian twins Jonathan and Kevin Borlee just less than a month after making the 400m semi-finals at the able-bodied World Championships in Daegu, Korea.

In the 200m T44 race, South Africa’s Arnu Fourie upset the USA’s Jerome Singleton, finishing first in a time of 22.76. Singleton recorded a 23.62, and his American teammate David Prince clocked a 23.94 to secure third place.
