London 2012 Paralympic Planning Reviewed

Today, a delegation from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) including IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez, met with the London 2012 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to conduct its third project review.

Chaired by London 2012 Chairperson Lord Sebastian Coe and CEO Paul Deighton, the day included a review of key functions and projects such as marketing, finance, culture, ceremonies and education. For that purpose, the respective London 2012 Directors presented plans for those key functions and responded to questions from the IPC.

“The IPC is very pleased with the progress made by London 2012 so far. The Organizing Committee shows strong commitment to position the Paralympic Games in London as a distinctive and attractive event for the public, sponsors and media alike. Having discussions at this early stage helps to build a common understanding of the Paralympic project and clarifies expectations”, said Mr. Gonzalez.
