Korea Wins First Game in Qualification Tournament

The team from Korea has won the first game of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Ice Sledge Hockey Paralympic Winter Games Qualification Tournament today in Malmö, Sweden.

Playing against Sweden, Korea took the game 3-2, after athlete Lee Yong Min scored the winning goal in overtime. Other Korean goals of the game were scored by Lee Jong Kyung and Jung Seung Hwan.

In the second game of the day, Germany led a powerful game against Estonia, winning 8-1. Goals on the German team were scored by Udo Segreff (three), Frank Rennhack (three), Sven Stumpe (one), and Robert Pabst (one).

The IPC Ice Sledge Hockey Qualification Tournament will continue in Malmö, Sweden, through 13 November. All of the athletes in Malmö have the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games on their minds, as the Qualification Tournament will secure placement at the Games for the top two finishers.
