George and McFadden win Chicago Marathon

McFadden makes it a third consecutive Chicago Marathon victory, whilst George claimed his fourth Chicago victory in a climactic race.
The USA’s Joshua George and Tatyana McFadden claimed victory on home soil at the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on 12 October.
In an incredibly tight men’s race, with just two-tenths of a second between the top eleven racers, George claimed his fourth Chicago Marathon title with a dramatic victory.
The 2008 Paralympic Champion finished ahead of the 51-strong pack in 1:32.12, with Australia’s Kurt Fearnley agonisingly close behind in 1:32.13 and South Africa’s Ernst Van Dyk in third with the same time.
In the women’s race, McFadden, a three-time Paralympic Champion, made it three Chicago Marathon victories in a row, winning in 1:44.50, ahead of Switzerland’s Manuela Schar (1:45.12) and compatriot Amanda McGrory (1:45.55).
It was an all USA affair in the handcycle race, with David Neumer winning in 1:30.30. Nick Koulchar took second (1:36.46), with Toran Gaal coming third (1:52.04).
