Kimberley Joines: Training gs at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Centre
Lucky day Kimberley Joines - biography As the daughter of an athlete, coach and PE teacher, Joines tried as many sports as possible but found her passion in snowboarding when she was a teenager. She progressed quickly in this sport and started to learn some bigger tricks until 2000 when a snowboarding accident resulted in paraplegia. An hour after her surgery Joines made plans to find a sit ski and get back to riding as soon as possible. ""After my accident this seemed like the best competitive sport scenario for me, given my passion for skiing and snowboarding prior to injury,"" she said. At the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games Joines won the bronze medal in super-G. Joines has won many overall titles and IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup podiums. She couldn't compete at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games because she was injured, so her dream for the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games is "to be healthy and to earn better than a bronze".
