The IPC acts as the International Federation for ten sports which dates back to the origins of the IPC.
The federations are:
- World Para Cross-Country Skiing
In its role as the International Federation, the IPC is responsible for the management and governance for the sports and fulfils the following roles:
- management of all technical aspects, such as rules, rankings, records and athlete classification
- supervision of World Championships and other competitions co-ordinating closely with local organising committees
- financial management and administration
- promotion and communication of each sport
It is the clear desire of the IPC, relevant stakeholders and IPC Sports representatives to transition these ten sports to independence.
