“Venezuela is a good example of women in leadership positions as four out of five executive positions in the government are covered by women."

With the participation of representatives from 15 countries from the Americas Region, the Venezuelan Minister of Sports, Victoria Mata welcomed everyone with a speech addressing the Paralympic Movement and the inclusion of women in management positions.

“Venezuela is a good example of women in leadership positions as four out of five executive positions in the government are covered by women. The NPC of Venezuela is also a great example of women leadership with a female President and Secretary General leading the organisation. The work they do is amazing”, she added.

Other officials attending the opening were Elsa Garcia, Vice Minister of High Performance Sports, Andrew Parsons, President of the Americas Paralympic Committee, Georg Schlachtenberger, COO of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Jose Luis Campos, member of the IPC Governing Board and Ahiquel Hernández, President of the NPC Venezuela.

The first half of the Summit is an NPC Administration Course focusing on several topics including an introduction to the Paralympic Movement, Sports, Branding, Sponsoring, Marketing, Media and Communication, Anti-Doping, Classification, Paralympic Games and Strategic Planning. The second half starting on 18 June focuses on leadership training in Communication, Networking and Influencing Change. The goal of the Summit is the creation of action plans for promoting women in leadership in the region.
