Vote now for October’s IPC Athlete of the Month

The public now has until 12:00 (CEST) on 12 November to vote for which athlete it thought had the best performance last month.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced its shortlist for October’s Athlete of the Month award, and the public can now vote for the winner via the poll on www.Paralympic.org homepage.
This month’s IPC Athlete of the Month nominees include:
• Robert Davies (Great Britain, table tennis): Davies became the world’s No. 1 ranked player in the men’s singles Class 1 after winning gold in the event at the ITTF Para-Table Tennis European Championships in Lignano, Italy. Heading into the event he was ranked No. 5, but he was able to defeat Paralympic and world champion Holger Nikelis of Germany in the semi-finals of the tournament. He also won gold in the team event.
• Panfeng Feng (China, table tennis): As one of the dominant players at the ITTF Para-Table Tennis Asian Championships, Feng won gold in both the men’s singles Class 3 event, as well as the team event.
• Natascha Hiltrop (Germany, shooting): The 23-year-old beat Paralympic champion Cedric Fevre and favourite Matt Skelhon to claim gold in the R3 event (mixed 10m air rifle prone SH1) at the IPC Shooting European Championships in Alicante, Spain.
• Witsanu Huadpradit (Thailand, boccia): Hudapradit pulled a major upset at the BISFed Boccia Asia-Oceania Championships, beating his world No. 1 teammate and Paralympic champion Pattaya Tadtong to win the BC1 class title.
• Jonas Jacobsson (Sweden, shooting): Jacobsson broke the 13-year-old R7 (men’s 50m rifle three positions SH1) qualification world record at the IPC Shooting European Championships with a score of 1,172. Jacobsson could have retired after the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, but vowed to break the 1,170 mark instead.. He went on to win gold in the event at the Championships.event.
• Seung-Hwan Jung (South Korea, ice sledge hockey): Jung led his team to a first-place finish and a Sochi 2014 spot at the IPC Ice Sledge Hockey Qualification Tournament in Torino, Italy. He was named Best Forward at the tournament after finishing with eight goals and four assists.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).
