Vancouver 2010 Launched Online Education Tool

The new Internet portal, named /EDU, is an online, interactive, bilingual e-magazine will connect teachers and students and enable them to learn more about Vancouver 2010, the Olympic and Paralympic Movements and programmes in sport, culture and sustainability.

A wide range of materials related to sport, recreation and healthy lifestyles, culture, creativity and inter-cultural understanding, and various facets of sustainability will help them to explore the world of sports as well as the Olympic and Paralympic Movement. An online forum enables teachers to exchange ideas and experiences with their colleagues across Canada and throughout the world.

/EDU will connect teachers, students and schools, and celebrate the spirit of the 2010 Winter Games. It consists of resources developed by teachers and non-profit associations across Canada, including the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Canadian museums, environmental groups, and arts and culture organizations, as well the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee and the Organizing Committees for the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games.

The Organizing Committees for the Olympic and Paralympic Games have been playing an important role in the promotion of Olympic and Paralympic education for young people. With the support of the British Columbia Ministry of Education, VANOC is working with representatives from each of the 13 ministries responsible for education in Canada to identify the best education resources in sport, culture and sustainability and collaborate on the development of new educational resources as opportunities arise.
