The roster includes 19 female athletes and 35 male athletes who will represent USA at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

US Paralympics announced on Sunday (1 July) the 54 athlete nominations for the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Track & Field Team.

The roster includes 19 female athletes and 35 male athletes who will represent USA at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The nominations are highlighted by Jessica Galli, who was the most decorated US track and field athlete at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games with five medals, and four-time Beijing medallist Tatyana McFadden, three-time medallist Amanda McGrory and three-time medallist Jim Bob Bizzell.

It also includes 100m T43/44 world champion sprinter Jerome Singleton on the men’s side and defending 100m T43/44 Paralympic champion April Holmes for the women.

In total, USA won of nine gold, 14 silver, and five bronze medals in Beijing, two more medals than the team won at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games.

Jeremy Campbell, a two-time gold medallist in Beijing, is back and hoping to defend his title in the men's discus F44, an event in which he holds the world record.

Other Beijing gold medallists making a return in London include Joshua, Josiah Jamison and Jeff Skiba.

Five US military veterans received nominations to the team: Christopher Clemens, Navy; Angela Madsen, Marine Corps; CeCe Mazyck, Army; Scot Severn, Army; and Scott Winkler, Army.

Three active duty service members and veterans were also named alternates for the team.
