    Trees planted to honour Kazakhstan´s Paralympic medallists

    As part of an eco-initiative, a total of 29 trees were planted at the ‘Park of Lovers’ in Astana to honour the 17 Olympic and the two Paralympic medallists from Rio 2016.

    An alley of 29 spruces has been planted at the ‘Park of Lovers’, located in Kazakhstan´s capital city, Astana, in recognition of the country´s 17 Olympic and two Paralympic medallists from the Rio 2016 Games.

    September´s Paralympic Games saw Kazakhstan winning their first gold medal ever through swimmer Zulfiya Gabidullina, who won the women´s 100m freestyle S3 with a world record time of 1:30.07.

    The country´s second Paralympic medal at Rio 2016 was a silver, sealed by powerlifter Raushan Koishibayeva in the women´s up to 67kg.

    At August´s Olympic Games, Kazakhstan claimed three golds, five silvers and nine bronzes.
