Taiki Morii aiming for continuity ahead of PyeongChang 2018

Twenty years on from taking up alpine skiing, Japan’s Taiki Morii is preparing for his fifth Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, in 2018.
Coming off one of the best seasons in his career, finishing first in the men’s sitting World Cup overall rankings, the 37-year-old wants to bank on what has worked for him in the past.
“I have not changed my training in the past several years, including this off-season,” said Morii, who won three silvers and one bronze over four Paralympic Winter Games. Now, he seeks to win the only medal that is still missing from his trophy cabinet.
“My body is feeling very well. Better and better. Many people cheer me as well,” he said.
In 2017, Morii also won silver in the men’s super-combined sitting at the Tarvisio 2017 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships. With that medal under his belt, he feels confident ahead of next season.
“My goal is to accomplish my own skiing style and best my performances in all races,” he said. “Winning medals at PyeongChang 2018 would be very special for me and my skiing career.”
The 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, from 9-18 March.
