    PyeongChang 2018: What to watch on day 2

    Alpine skiing and cross-country medals decided at Winter Paralympics

    Day two of competition (11 March) at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will see medals being decided across alpine skiing and cross-country. The Para ice hockey and wheelchair curling competition will also continue.

    Alpine skiing

    Super-G events will be contested across all men’s and women’s classes.

    France’s Marie Bochet will start as favourite to defend the gold after winning the women’s standing overall World Cup title, but Canadian Mollie Jepsen claimed the super-G crystal globe this season and is hoping to extend her success into PyeongChang.

    Germany’s reigning Paralympic super-G champion Anna Schaffelhuber finished first in the super-G women’s sitting World Cup standings and will be the leading contender for the Winter Paralympics.

    The women’s vision impaired could be a British showdown with Menna Fitzpatrick, Millie Knight and Kelly Gallagher all competing.

    Paralympic champions Jakub Krako of Slovakia and Mac Marcoux of Canada will go head to head in a thrilling men’s vision impaired event.

    Austrian Markus Salcher took gold in the men’s super-G standing and ended first in the event’s overall World Cup standings this season, and will start as favourite in his class.

    The men’s sitting will feature many big names such as USA’s Andrew Kurka, Norway’s Jesper Pedersen and Japan’s Akira Kano.

    Cross-country skiing

    Women’s and men’s long distance sitting events will take place on the first day of cross-country skiing competition. NPA athlete Ivan Golubkov among men and Norway’s Birgit Skarstein in the women’s event will start as favourites after winning the crystal globes this season.

    Para ice hockey

    The sport’s second day of competition will feature three games: USA vs. Japan, South Korea vs. Czech Republic and Canada vs. Italy.

    Wheelchair curling

    Ten games will be contested at the Gangneung Curling Centre: USA vs. Germany, Switzerland vs. Great Britain, NPA vs. Finland, Norway vs. China, Canada vs. Sweden, Slovakia vs. South Korea, Slovakia vs. Switzerland, Great Britain vs. Finland, China vs. Germany and USA vs. Sweden.

    Every competition as well as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies can be watched live right here on the International Paralympic Committee’s website. Highlights of each day’s action will also be made available.
