    Medals up for grabs in alpine and cross-country skiing

    Competition at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games continues, with alpine skiing giant slalom and cross-country skiing events. Para ice hockey and wheelchair curling also continue.

    Alpine skiing

    Giant slalom events will be contested at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre. In the men´s vision impaired, Canada’s Mac Marcoux, with guide Jack Leitch, will try to win a second straight Paralympic giant slalom gold after disappointment in the super combined.

    In the vision impaired, Slovakia’s world title holder Henrieta Farkasova, with guide Natalia Subrtova, will go for their fourth gold at PyeongChang 2018.

    Technical events are the strength of Dutch sit-skier Jeroen Kampschreur, who holds the gold medal from the World Championships in Tarvisio, Italy, and is still fresh from winning the super-combined. However, giant slalom World Cup winner Jesper Pedersen will try to spoil his run after picking up bronze on Tuesday.

    The women’s sitting would be another contest between German rivals Anna Schaffelhuber and Anna-Lena Forster, as well as Austria´s Claudia Loesch.

    In the men’s standing, 17-year-old reigning world champion Arthur Bauchet will try to add gold here after winning three silvers. Neutral Paralympic Athlete Aleksei Bugaev and Sochi 2014 bronze medallist Markus Salcher from Austria are also in podium contention.

    France´s two-time PyeongChang 2018 gold medallist Marie Bochet could not finish the super combined but seeks to bounce back ahead of the giant slalom in the women´s equivalent. But in this event was that she was bumped to second by Germany’s Andrea Rothfuss at the 2017 World Championships in Tarvisio, Italy.

    Cross-country skiing

    Sprint events across all categories will be contested at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre.

    It will be a good opportunity to see two heavyweights as Carina Edlinger and Mikhalina Lysova will face each other in the women’s vision impaired. Norway’s Birgit Skarstein in the women’s sitting and NPA athlete Ekaterina Rumyantseva in the women’s standing will be other ones to watch.

    In the men’s events, Sweden’s Zebastian Modin (vision impaired), and NPA athletes Rushan Minnegulov (standing) and Ivan Golubkov (sitting) will be the men to beat.

    Para ice hockey

    Czech Republic will face Sweden and Norway will play against Japan in the first matches to decide the fifth to eighth places at the Gangneung Hockey Centre.

    Wheelchair curling

    The 12 games contested at the Gangneung Curling Centre on day five will be: Finland vs. Sweden, Germany vs. Great Britain, Slovakia vs. China, Switzerland vs. USA, Great Britain vs. USA, South Korea vs. Norway, Germany vs. Switzerland, Canada vs. NPA, China vs. NPA, Slovakia vs. Canada, South Korea vs. Sweden and Norway vs. Finland.
