    Five World Championships headline the month

    UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships

    Former Formula 1 driver and Paralympic champion Alex Zanardi will be among 400 athletes from 46 countries competing in Maniago, Italy, between 2 and 5 August.

    IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championships

    Australia will start as favourites to defend the world title on home soil in Sydney from 5-10 August.

    BISFed 2018 Boccia World Championships

    The Liverpool Exhibition Centre will receive 190 athletes from 33 countries, who will fight for the seven gold medals up for grabs from 12-18 August. IWBF World Championships

    Sixteen men’s and 12 women’s wheelchair basketball teams will battle it out in Hamburg, Germany, between 16 and 25 August.

    ICF Para Canoe World Championships

    The Portuguese town of Montemor O Velho will stage the event from 22-25 August.

    World Para Athletics European Championships

    The sixth edition of the continental event will be held in Berlin, Germany, from 20-26 August, and will feature 600 athletes from 39 countries.

    World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships

    Ellen Keane will be the home crowd favourite at Ireland’s first major international Para sport event when competition takes place in Dublin between 13 and 19 August.

    Algiers 2018 Para Powerlifting African Championships

    Some of the world’s strongest powerlifters will gather in the Algerian capital city from 10-12 August for the third edition of the continental event. UCI Para Cycling Road World Cup

    The last World Cup of the year will be held in Baie-Comeau, Canada, between 15 and 19 August.

    Oceania Para Taekwondo Open

    French Polynesia will stage the competition on 4 August.

    Brazil Para Badminton International

    The eighth Para Badminton International of the year will be the first held in the Americas as Sao Paulo stages the event from 7-12 August.
